Inspiration: Jenna Rose

July 21, 2011

I am constantly on the lookout for artists who make a living with their screenprinted accessories. People who have an eye for surface design & draw their own repeat patterns, & people who create every aspect of their work from the printing to the sewing. In this huge world of crafts, I actually don’t see it nearly as often as I initially expected to.

One artist that I find incredibly inspiring is Jenna Rose. She’s a textiles artist from Hamilton, Ontario & I simply must own some of her work!

Shipwrecks & Bravery, Jenna Rose Pillows

The pinecone pillow (pictured left) is a great combination of modern design & nature. I’m in love with her treehouse pillow (right); the outlines were printed in a beautiful soft gray, with a muted mustard yellow for the autumn leaves, printed perfectly in place. It’s a wonderful effect. Gray pinecone pillow, $58 USD. Treehouse pillow, $58 USD.

Shipwrecks & Bravery, Jenna Rose Round Bucket

One of my favourite items has to be this round basket. Check out that print!! Gorgeous waves & huge ships … this is the sort of thing I can only wish to design someday. The leather straps are a great touch to a bag with such soft lines. This is a permanent addition to my wishlist. I can’t wait to have my own, & fill it with my favourite yarn! (My stash is currently tucked away in a cardboard box, protected in ziploc bags … what a shame, when these beautiful bags exist out there!)

This design isn’t currently in Jenna Rose’s Etsy shop (as I understand, she’s preparing for some future shows), but cross your fingers that it will be available for online purchase soon!

  1. I wish you had never shown me this etsy ;p

    Terrible things will probably happen.

  2. Haha isn’t it awful, how beautiful it is?! How are we supposed to resist?
