Summer Sewing Projects
As stated in my last post, this summer has been a slow one. Even so, I managed to make a few goodies, and my friend Gabby was good enough to help me photograph some of them.
Pleated pouch made with a sample square of canvas material I bought at MacFab. The red bits are already starting to wear away in places; I use it as a makeup bag & it’s certainly been thrown around enough! I’m in love with it. It has a red cotton lining, too. You can find the pattern at Skip to My Lou!
Here’s another zippered, lined pouch made of canvas — this one of my own design. I really love it, but it’s horribly flawed! I impulsively sewed the ruffle together before sewing it to the pouch, so the top has two lines; I’m thinking of just sewing a second line on the bottom to make it look intentional, haha. Beyond that, the zipper is too close to the fabric so it catches, & the lining inside is much too big. Sometime soon I hope to fix it & put it up for sale!
I am one of those people who carries gigantic bags everywhere. The last time I bought a purse, my mother said it was luggage. So, in order to encourage myself to carry smaller bags, help my shoulders not hurt, & just bring less stuff with me everywhere I go, I took it upon myself to use VeryPurplePerson’s reversible bag tutorial! It was super easy & a great sewing project, & now I use this bag every day!
