Pattern: Mairéad
You can never have too many slouchy hats! It might be summer weather in North America (already!), but autumn is always approaching. Malabrigo merino wool is super soft, comes in fabulous colour variegations, & will keep your head nice & cozy!
This hat adds some spice to stockinette with a single lace panel that can be worn on either side of your head.
June 14, 2010: Made a few adjustments to the pattern that I somehow overlooked! The ribbing should be worked with 4mm needles, & I also fixed errors with the decreases. Everything should be even now!

- 4mm double-pointed needles
- 5mm double-pointed needles

Pattern:
With 4mm needles, CO 105 sts & join.

Switch to 5mm needles.

Wicked rad hat. The pattern blew my mind. Is that secret code of some sort? Seriously, though, your work is impressive and intricate. You’re a talented lady, lady.

Very cute pattern. And we all know how I feel about malabrigo, haha. <3
I love the pattern! And of course, love Malabrigoooo<3 I'm really jealous of all your awesome photos of your knits, now Tara!
thanks for the great pattern!! I work with a young woman who shares the name =)
Not a problem! I had a modern dance teacher named Mairead & automatically fell in love with it! Such a pretty name.
Thanks, Kirsten!! I think I need to take ALL knitting photos in the forest now!

Love the hat. Do you have the pattern for circular needles. I am a fairly new knitter.
Hi, Sandra! Unfortunately I don’t have a pattern written out for circulars, but the pattern doesn’t really change. Sometimes hats are a bit tricky on circs due to the small circumference of the hat (researching the Magic Loop method helps), but the pattern should be doable without DPNs.
